About Prayagraj

Prayagraj is built around a confluence. At the Triveni Sangam the muddy Ganga and the clearer, greener Yamuna meet, joined in belief by the hidden Saraswati, and pilgrims go out by boat to bathe where the waters mix. Every twelve years the Kumbh Mela gathers millions on these sandbanks, and the Magh Mela fills them each winter. Close to the Sangam stand the Bade Hanuman temple and the walls of Akbar's Allahabad Fort; in the city, Anand Bhavan, the Nehru family home, is now a museum. Prayagraj is the natural first stop on a journey east to Ayodhya and Varanasi.
